Leaflets of history define that well equipped air ambulance service was used for the first time in France and the United Kingdom in 1920s. The need was felt at that time while African and Middle Eastern Colonial Wars were in full swing. More than 7,000 casualties had disturbed the French forces to initiate evacuation process. Role of air ambulance was felt desperately once again in 1936 by military assistance to finish evacuating process of wounded forces in Spanish Civil War in Nazi Germany. It could ascertain timely medical service offered to critically injure. Same scene would be there in the World War II for evacuating combat casualties for which makeshift air ambulance service was initiated.

Regular use of air ambulance services in previous century is witnessed in several wars and emergency situations. But casualties in battlefields are not the only places where air ambulance use was felt. There have been regular casualties in civilian areas and most often natural disasters force for availing this special ambulance service to ensure the sufferers could be assisted for safety through instant medical assistance. The critical patients are shifted instantly by such ambulances for timely shifting into hospitals with advanced facilities for better treatment.
